Hi, I am Usha Rao and welcome to MySpicyKitchen. I am the writer, photographer and the techie here. I live in New York City and share the recipes I experiment at home.
I was born and raised in Hyderabad, India and moved to the United States of America about a quarter century ago. I spent more than half my life here in the US. The Big Apple has been home since a decade and a half.
I love cooking and my husband is my taste tester, especially the non vegetarian recipes. I often refer to him as Mr. U in my posts.
I started MySpicyKitchen to document recipes I experimented at home. I always wanted to document the recipes and in 2008 a blog seemed a right platform to document the recipes. It started as hobby and now it is part of my life. Along the way, I also developed interest in food photography. In fact, these days I enjoy food photography more than food blogging!
Recipes on the blog
At home we usually eat Indian food and to be more precise, Telangana food. Telangana is one of the five South Indian states. I love baking and also have a sweet tooth. So you can find Indian sweets, desserts and a lot of sweet bakes here. Apart from Indian food, we also enjoy food from other cuisines and what we eat at home is what gets on the blog.
Photography is my other passion now and here is my photo blog, which kind of dormant now. I also love watching (binge watching) movies and TV series.
I hope you like the recipes and thanks for stopping by. Happy cooking!
