    25 Mouthwatering Chutneys & Dips

Round up of 25 mouth watering chutneys and dips posted by my fellow blogging marathoners. List includes spicy Indian chutneys and mouthwatering dips from around the globe.

    Condiments

Condiments are an integral part of any cuisine. Each cuisine has a handful of condiments that are popular across the globe. A dip or a dipping sauce is a condiment served along with finger food and appetizers. These basically complement the food it is served with.

Chutneys are one of the most well known condiments from the Indian subcontinent, specially from South Indian cuisine. We south Indians whip up a chutney with pretty much everything that is edible on planet earth. Hence, chutneys dominated this roundup! 🙂

Chutneys are dips; served along with fritters, fried food and Indian breakfasts such as idli & dosa. Indian chutneys pair well even with rice and flat breads. Some chutneys are multi purpose and make an awesome spread for sandwiches and toasts.

Dips and dipping sauces is a broad category and for 25 mouthwatering chutneys and dips round up, I divided the dips into 3 sub-categories; chutneys, dips and spreads. Some chutneys & dips work as spreads as well, hence grouped them under spreads category.

Since two thirds of the recipes in the roundup are chutneys, had to title it as chutneys and dips roundup, rather than mouthwatering dips round up. Enjoy the virtual treat and if it is not too late, make a chutney/dip or two for the Super Bowl party!
